Squat Cues & What They Mean

“Big Toe Pressure”
-Help athletes use quads better
-Helps hips/shoulder rise together
-Used to correct history of over emphasis of ‘sitting back’

“Get Tight!”
-Build tension through core and upper back
-Tight shelf for bar with upper back
-Externally rotating feet into floor
-360 degrees of pressure with your breathing

“Back Into the Bar”
-Used to avoid hips rising faster than shoulders
-Actively drive your upper back into the bar as your first move out of the hole
-Create equal pressure with the back into the bar, as with your feet into the floor
