An American Weightlifting Pioneer

Charles Vinci, nicknamed Mighty Mite, standing 4-11 (151cm) 123# (56kg), won Gold in the 1956 and 1960 Olympics competing for the USA. He set 12 World Records, including his 342.5kg 3 Lift Total in winning Gold in Melbourne in 1956, where he had to Cut his hair off to make weight. Vinci stayed lifting throughout his entire life, saying he could still ‘play with 400#’ well into 50s. Vinci passed away in June 2018 at age 85
